NREL Building One of the World’s Most Energy Efficient Office Spaces
Sep 29th

I heard the Director of NREL, Dan Arvizu, speak at the Alliance to Save Energy’s Smart Grid Summit a few weeks ago and he discussed the innovative strategies that were incorporated in the development of the building. What was surprising to me was that he said that the percentage that was spent on the design of the building was much higher than what is allocated for a typical commercial property. But because NREL was able to spend extra time on the design, they were able to squeeze out savings in lighting and HVAC load that couldn’t have been achieved otherwise.
