How will unrest in Libya impact E15 ruling
By Tuesday, already half of Libya’s oil exports have been shut down. Even with Saudi Arabia scrambling to recover the markets, the Middle East turmoil is adversely affecting oil and gas prices. Amidst predictions that Americans will soon face $5 per gallon, representatives from the U.S. ethanol industry took advantage of the moment to reiterate their message. They warned that Congressional moves to block E15, for instance, would only magnify the impact of high fuel prices. Last week, the House of Representatives passed legislation against the EPA’s approval of the ethanol 15 fuel blend. If this was reversed, American ethanol would displace the dependence on imported oil.

The new lights will reduce energy consumption up to 68 percent and will save the city costs for maintenance and replacement bulbs because the LEDs last longer than traditional lamps. Monetary savings of $37,000 per year will result from the installation. The project was funded in part by a $245,624 “Green Communities” Grant from the state.
