FPL Pilot Program Offers New Solar Energy Rebates

FPL announces a new pilot program that offers new solar energy rebate
Only about 1,100 of Florida Power and Light’s 4.5 million customers currently take advantage of having their own solar power system. But more are expected to join the movement as FP&L has announced that the utility company will launch a new solar energy rebate program on beginning June 21st. Rebates will be available on a first-come, first-served basis for residential and business customers who install solar water heating or solar photovoltaic (PV) panels this year. Business customers will be able to apply for a rebate of $30 per 1,000 BTUh/day of the maximum rated output of an installed solar water heater with a cap at $150,000 per company per year. Businesses can also apply for up to $50,000 in rebates per site, $150,000 per company for solar PV systems.

The Green Lighthouse at Copenhagen University has become Denmark’s first carbon-neutral public facility. As an innovation project, it is intended to provide experience for the sustainable buildings of the future. Findings taken from observing how people use the facility show that user needs and behavior are critically important to the successful sustainability measures of sustainable buildings. The building has much publicity and attracted several thousands of visitors, including the Russian President Medvedev and New York’s mayor, Michael Bloomberg.
Georgia Power Supporting Electric Vehicle Development In The South
Georgia Power has launched a new EV website that will help potential and existing customers learn about the process of purchasing and owning an electric vehicle. Georgia Power’s new electric transportation website, will help customers navigate through the process. Visitors will be able to search for the location of public charging stations, read details about the different types of plug-in electric vehicles entering the market and learn about Georgia Power’s three residential rate options. An incentive is available for cost conscious rate payers who are willing to charge their electric vehicles between 11 p.m. and 7 a.m. Customers can potentially lower their charging bill by 13% if they choose to charge their car overnight.
